Alpha Centauri's History

Alpha Centauri is the self-proclaimed name of a mysterious entity that, without any prior warning, interfered with the reality-spanning operations of Giant Corpora of Knowledge, hijacking their multiversal communication network and (Much to their existential horror) identifying himself as an ambassador from a highly-advanced race of entities from a realm thirty levels of existence above the Corpora. According to Alpha Centauri, who curiously addressed his message to humanity instead of their mechanical gods, the fragmented space-time structure that was formed after the cataclysmic phenomenon known as "the Event" started to inferere with the operations of his own race in some unknown way, prompting them to try and resolve it in a way akin to carefully uprooting a tree grown in the middle of a road.

Following this event, Alpha Centauri and his race made no further efforts to maintain communication with the lower realms. However, the sheer ease with which he toyed with, and ignored, the Giant Corpora of Knowledge deeply affected the psychology of the previously-haughty entities, causing many to undergo severe existential crises in the face of such terrible humiliation, prompting some to gather together into religious factions centered around the epiphany, and others to disperse among the infinite possibilities of the multiverse, in an attempt to return to something indistinguishable from nothing amidst its many dimensions.
