Annex's History

In the Gulf War, Alex Ellis earned the Purple Heart for dragging his comrade David Dunson out of a war zone while his leg was severely wounded. Unfortunately, David did not survive the War. Once he was back stateside, Alex campaigned for wounded veterans to get more advanced prosthetics for those who lost limbs in combat. He was offered a part in an experiment to give him back his leg for his heroism. Unbeknownst to him, the man who was offering this "gift" was Abner Dunson, father of the comrade Alex pulled to safety. Mr. Dunson somehow blamed Alex for his son's death.Mr. Dunson planned to erase Alex's memory and replace it with that of his son's using the Annex technology. Something went wrong and Alex, now transformed into more machine than man, went on a rampage. Spider-Man happened along Annex's rampage and attempted to stop him. Along with some regained memory of his own, Annex used Spider-Man's help to bring Mr. Dunson to justice.After the Civil War, he was listed as a potential recruit for the Initiative,and was recruited for training, even though he already had military training, and was active as a hero for quite a while.After the Skrull invasion, Annex was assigned to New Mexico's Initiative team, the Mavericks.
