Artifex's History

Raymond Silver is a brilliant 13 year old half Fijian, half Caucasian young man from the Bronx, New York. At the age of 9 he suffered a rare spinal stroke while playing basketball and was left paralyzed from the waist down.

The genius young man designed his own electric wheelchair and immersed himself in virtual and augmented reality video games, also of his own design.

At the age of 11, after witnessing the massive star flash and emergence of the superhero Mithion, Raymond created an incredibly high tech remote controlled robot superhero to aide Mithion in his fight to protect the world from the many cosmic threats that began appearing. At 13 he used his brilliance to create a synthetic body for the dying Dr. Malcom Rufus, the very doctor that worked so hard to try and cure the paralysis Raymond had suffered.

Going by the name Artifex, Raymond remotely and mentally controls the formidable robot using a high tech modified virtual reality headset from his apartment bedroom near the Bronx Zoo. Mithion, Ridian and Mentalis are the only beings, aside form Raymond’s mother, who know that Raymond controls Artifex while the rest of the world thinks it is a man in a power armor suit. Together with Mithion and the synthetic body he created for Dr. Rufus, Ridian, the three are a powerful force protecting Earth.

When the Warborn program was conceived by the United States Military there was bid to numerous military contractors worth billions of dollars. Mithion and Ridian spoke with Raymond and his mother with an idea. The idea was to license Raymon’s technology to the government for their Warborn program. Mithion would say that he and Ridian developed it but give Raymond and his mother all of the money. This way the government wouldn’t know who Raymond is and still believe that Artifex is a man in a powered armor suit. This deal kickstarted the Warborn program and secretly made Raymond a billionaire.
