Buffy's powers and abilities

Slayer Powers:

Strength:

• As a slayer, Buffy is endowed with physical strength that is greater than humans, some demons and most, if not all, vampires.
  
  
• She is capable of lifting and throwing human-sized subjects a sizable distances, propelling enemies with a single blow, bending solid metal with her bare hands (once bent a rifle barrel), breaking human bones with ease, and punching into concrete walls to no ill effect.
  
  
• Buffy herself has lifted up a metal portcullis (something a group of slave-workers were unable to do), snapped a metal blade over her knee, punched through a demon's chest, hurled a piece of glass with enough force that it severed a person's arm, effortlessly lifted still girders weighing several hundreds of pounds, and accidentally kicked Riley clear across a room and even admitted to still have "held back a little."
  
  
• Buffy was able to easily lift the Enchanted Hammer of Olaf the Trollgod with one hand, something that Spike (an almost 150 year old vampire) was unable to do with two hands). Angel (an almost 275 year old vampire at the time), somewhat tentatively and with a humorous tenor that was suggest he was understating, remarked that Buffy was "a little bit stronger" than he was.
  
  
• When upset or angry, Slayers can seemingly access great levels and feats of strength.
  
  
• Lifting Strength Examples:
  
  
• A minecart back onto the tracks
  
  
• By herself, she casually carries around still girders/I-Beams, which weigh several hundreds of pounds, if not more.
  
  
• Picks up pieces of rubble underwater, while retaining her buoyancy.
  
  
• Lifts a huge chunk of rubble over her head, with the help of Spike
  
  
• Tosses aside two bringers, like she was opening a set of curtains.
  
  
• Strong enough the carry a man up the side of a building with one hand, and throw another roof to roof with one arm.

Speed:

• As a slayer, Buffy is able to move at great speeds.
  
  
• Buffy was able to chase, and catch up to, a speeding school bus (according to statistics, school buses can reach up to roughly 65 mph) that already had a head start and only moments after she had been stabbed.
  
  
• She was able to chase, and catch up to, a snake demon that was easily able to outrun a car.
  
  
• Was able to stop a crowbar, that was thrown forcefully by Glorificus, a Hell Goddess, from hitting Dawn by jumping in her way and catching it, resulting only in a shallow wound.
  
  
• She swings an axe at a vampire, which misses, but then stakes him so fast he didn't realize it immediately.
  
  
• Buffy has been known to outrun/dodge/evade gunfire. She as ducked under a revolver fire before disarming her attackers, has avoided gunfire from multiple policemen, avoided rapid fire from Darla's dual handguns, runs past a corridor just before two highly dangerous terrorist/assassins star firing at her with high-caliber weapons, was capable of dodging machine gunfire from two watchers (while one was in a helicopter).
  
  
• She has outrun a raiding motorcyclist on his bike, just shortly after her resurrection.
  
  
• Outruns a magical fireball, that Willow sent to kill Xander, Dawn, Andrew, and Johnathon.
  
  
• She was able to reach the police station to save Andrew and Johnathon on foot, shortly after Willow reached there via flight.
  
  
• In the comics, Buffy has been shown to have great combat speed. Going as far to create afterimages as she blitzes demons, vampires, etc.
  
  

Reflexes:

• As a slayer, Buffy has incredible reflexes.
  
  
• Shortly after being called to be the Slayer, Merrick throws a knife at her, without warning, and she instinctively catches it.
  
  
• Buffy steps on a bear trap, in the dark, but pulls her foot out before it snaps shut. These traps tend to close at speeds faster than the eye, roughly over 205 mph.
  
  
• Buffy has caught a crossbow bolt mid-flight, which travels around 186 mph.
  
  
• Pushes Faith out of of lightning's way.
  
  
• Flips over a car driving into her from only a few feet away when she sees it.
  
  
• Limited Bullet Time: Buffy has been seen a few time to move/react at such extraordinary speeds it appears time was slowed down.
  
  

Agility:

• As a slayer, Buffy is capable of superhuman feats when it comes to agility.
  
  
• She was capable of leaping to great heights, and great distances.
  
  
• She was able to perform and keep a stealthy handstand on a bar, running across to buildings, before doing a surprise attack on Angel.
  
  
• Performs a one arm handstand on a 4x4.
  
  
• When a vampire grabs her leg and flips her over, she lands perfectly on her feet (she had amnesia at the time, and didn't know she was a slayer; showing that a slayer's agility could work by mere instinct).
  
  
• Reaches the roof of her school in a short amount of time.
  
  
• Capable of leaping across tall buildings.
  
  
• She often uses gymnastics/acrobatic maneuvers during combat.
  
  
• Capable of dodging multiple robotic tentacle-like arms.
  
  
• Flips/dives in between two big sized blade saws.
  
  
• Buffy once utilized her agility and speed to avoid Caleb's attacks which caused him a noticeable amount of frustration.
  
  
• Buffy performs improbable mid-air kicks. One example is when Glory grabs Buffy's foot to avoid being kicked, and she flips her over, in return Buffy kicks her mid flip.
  
  
• Uses her agility, speed, and reflexes to climb a tower while also fighting Glory.
  
  

Durability:

• As a slayer, Buffy is substantially more durable and resistant to blunt force trauma, compared to the ordinary human. Being a slayer, Buffy also has several times the endurance of a common human, making it difficult, albeit not impossible, to bruise them, break their bones, strain their joints, etc.
  
  
• Buffy had a tree fall on her, but she walks out of it relatively fine.
  
  
• Buffy also gets flung into a tree, which caused it to break in half.
  
  
• Gets struck across the face by a robot twice and doesn't have the bruises to show for it.
  
  
• Is completely unfazed after having a lamp smashed over her face.
  
  
• Tanks getting hit by a bear.
  
  
• Gets dogpiled by a group of demon bikers brandishing metal bats and chains, and she pushes them off after a few seconds.
  
  
• Continues on her mission after falling from a clocktower and landing hard on the ground.
  
  
• Falls from a tower to the cement ground and keeps on fighting Glory seconds after.
  
  
• Survived contact with a live electrical wire in water; the normally fatal jolt simply melted the soles of her shoes. Giles noted that if she was anyone but the Slayer, she would not survive it; Buffy also admitted that it only shook her up a little.
  
  
• Got blasted with 12,000 volts of electricity, by Adam, which threw her back into a rock, but was still fit enough to escape.
  
  
• Tanks a house-busting explosion.
  
  
• Gets flung into concrete walls with enough force that they crack on impact. Buffy then manages to escape the building by falling two stories to the ground. The next day, Buffy is only slightly sore after her encounter.
  
  
• Gets smashed into a stone column, breaking it apart.
  
  
• During her first battle with Twilight, Buffy is plunged into a stone coffin (destroying it), plowed through a building, rushed through a roof with her head and back breaking off tiles, and finally has a roof top thrown at her which she barely misses. Buffy keeps fighting and is shown later with only a couple bandages on her face while another Slayer is hospitalized for lesser injuries.
  
  
• Falls to a concrete surface hard enough to crack it and still fights unhindered.
  
  
• Continues to fight after being slashed across her torso.
  
  
• Crashes into a wooden cabinet containing sharp weapons, smashing the cabinet and exposing her to the weapons. Buffy is only annoyed.
  
  
• Continues to fight after being impaled in the shoulder.
  
  
• Buffy has taken hits from multiple powerful beings. For example, Glory, a Hell Goddess, Caleb, with the empowerment of The First, Turok-Hans, primitive vampires equal and somewhat stronger than Buffy, Willow, when she went dark and enhanced her strength, Old Ones, purebred demons that dominated the Earth during the Primordium Age, etc.
  
  

Healing Factor:

• Her healing factor allows her to endure days of constant fighting and numerous injuries. In one comic panel, she is even curious of how long it takes for normal humans to heal.
  
  
• Buffy was hospitalized with a high-grade fever, some bone fractures and an injured arm. She was completely healed of her injuries the next morning with no signs of swelling (to the doctor's surprise) and was relieved of her fever the morning after that.
  
  
• Slayers seem to recover quickly from blood loss: Buffy was almost completely drained of blood by Angel, but recovered in time to be able to lead the Graduation Day battle in the same day. Has been hospitalized from major blood loss, only to fully recover in the afternoon.
  
  
• Her arm is injured in battle and twisted twice more, but appears to heal mid-battle when she punches a vampire away with no problems.
  
  
• Riley noticed Buffy's lack of marks after the tough fight from the night before, even though Riley was covered with bruises, even though Buffy took as much as a beating.
  
  
• Buffy states accelerated healing is part of the Slayer package. In the same episode, Buffy was recovering from a stab wound from the previous night, but in the next episode (which is set the next day according to dialogue), Buffy appears to have healed.
  
  
• Get stabbed by a sword through her back and goes down, only for her to rise minutes later and continue fighting.
  
  
• Buffy is shown in a never ending battle of gladiator demons to be healing various wounds from the last fight to keep on fighting.
  
  
• Usually, Buffy was completely healed within 24 hours of being injured, though more serious injuries have taken at least a few days; Buffy suffered from a severe stab wound to the belly that required at least a few days to heal, and, according to Violet, was heavily bruised for several days after her second encounter with the Turok-Han.
  
  

Stamina:

• As a slayer, Buffy possessed great stamina. She claimed she had the endurance of ten men and that it took a lot to wear her out.
  
  
• Buffy managed to stay at pace with an airborne Willow on foot while Xander (a somewhat, physically fit male of the same age) could hardly keep up and was seen heavily panting and sweating at the end. Buffy was totally fine.
  
  
• Chased a fireball all over town.
  
  

Senses:

• As a slayer, Buffy possesses a heightened awareness of their surroundings. This heightened awareness could, with experience, allow the Slayer to know the position of an attacker and fight them blindfolded or in the dark.
  
  
• Is capable of hearing somebody scream from a building away.
  
  
• According to Giles, Buffy should be able to sense vampires in her immediate vicinity if she hones that skill. Buffy never seemed to hone in on this ability, as she has confused human thugs for vampire once, yet was seemingly able to sense the presence of beings just unable to differentiate them from humans or demons.
  
  
• Calls out The Three, a trio of powerful vampire warriors and members of the Order of Aurelius, stalking her before they ambush.
  
  
• Wakes up in time to avoid getting struck with an axe by Kendra.
  
  
• Gets a funny feeling when Angel watches her from behind the bushes.
  
  
• Senses Glory silently sneaking behind her, in which she grabs her by her throat.
  
  
• Notices something is up when a trio of invisible demons enter her room that managed to sneak past the other Scoobies undetected. Before one can attack, Buffy realizes their presence when she picks up a faint growl.
  
  
• Buffy pinpointed the position of invisible Marcie Ross by standing silently for a few seconds to hear her movements before landing a perfect punch.
  
  
• Giles tests Buffy's awareness by making her throw a ball at him while blind-folded and she manages to do so when the ball bounces off a wall, which according to her tone and dialogue was her plan.
  
  
• Buffy fights off an armed Watcher blind-folded by relying on her own instincts.
  
  

Accuracy:

• Buffy's enhanced accuracy is helped with her heightened sense of awareness.
  
  
• Shoots down targets in an arcade game without even looking at the screen.
  
  
• Shoots down targets using crossbows during her training.
  
  
• Shoots a flying bird with a longbow.
  
  
• Shoots a padlock off with a handgun. This is from somebody who dislikes guns.
  
  
• Stakes a vampire from atop a building.
  
  
• Stakes a fleeing vampire.
  
  
• Pins a vampire in the eyes, then the heart.
  
  
• Stakes an attacker from behind her back.
  
  
• Pins two vampires in the heart at once.
  
  
• Saves Faith by throwing a stake into her attacker's back.
  
  
• Kills a fleeing bringer with his own dagger.
  
  
• Kills an ordinary fly just by spitting a thumbtack at it.
  
  
• Hurls an axe into some trees to kill a spider demon.
  
  

Innate Skill:

• A uniting force among all Slayer is their shared spiritual connection. Every Slayer experiences the heroics of past Slayers via dreams.
  
  
• Through the spiritual connection, each Slayer possesses innate skill that they are taught to tap into.
  
  
• The moment a Slayer is called, her shared memories hit her like a truck.
  
  
• These instincts exist even before a Slayer is activated. Buffy has teached a group of potential Slayers to trust and hone their instincts despite lacking powers.
  
  
• Buffy uses the experiences of past Slayers tactically in her fight with Fray who currently has the situational advantage.
  
  
• The very first time Buffy is trained to use the quarterstaff, she demonstrates powerful maneuvers resulting in a quick victory against her Watcher Rupert Giles, somebody who was trained in combat from a young age. Despite claiming it would take hours of vigorous training with the quaterstaff before moving onto the crossbow, he agreed to teach her after her first lesson.
  
  

Fighting Skills:

• A Slayer naturally had formidable fighting abilities.
  
  
• Buffy easily fended off multiple vampires at the same time while under a memory loss spell, with no memory of her combat training — relying entirely on her natural Slayer instincts.
  
  
• A Slayer's fighting prowess also appeared to extend to her weapon proficiency. When Giles trained Buffy to spar with a quarter staff for the first time, she easily outmaneuverd him. Despite his initial insistence that he would teach her how to use a crossbow in steady time after mastering the quarter staff which needed "countless hours of vigorous training," he quickly decided that Buffy was now ready after she bested him
  
  
• The Slayer's fighting talent could likely be attributed to their dreams of past Slayers. When Buffy fought Melaka who had currently the advantage, Buffy managed to overcome this because she had "dreamed every battle a Slayer's ever fought" and Melaka hadn't because she lacked the Slayer's psychic abilities.
  
  
• She also has a natural proficiency with all kinds of weaponry and combatant styles (this also requires training, but slayers are naturally adept at learning martial arts and weaponry).
  
  

Hypnotic Resistance:

• Buffy has sometimes been shown to be able to resist hypnosis, something not many other slayers have been shown to do, if any.
  
  
• Resists Lothos' powers after briefly falling for them.
  
  
• Becomes immune to the Master's hypnotism after coming back from the dead.
  
  
• Overcomes Dracula's "thrall," but only after tasting his blood.
  
  

Prophetic/Retrocognitive Dreaming/Psychic Link:

• All Slayers through the ages shares a psychic link, manifested in dreams. A Slayer would frequently dream of herself as a Slayer in another time and place, even before being called, which would hint if they were Potential Slayers. They could also experience prophetic dreams related to upcoming crises.
  
  
• Dreams existed in their own dreamspace where, for a Slayer, precognitive sense and the inherited memories of other Slayers could manifest themselves.One consequence of this power was that a Slayer would essentially have fought all the battles of the Slayers before her. These experiences helped hone their skills and aid them in future battles.
  
  
• Also, activated Slayers have appeared in each other's dreams, as Buffy and Faith shared several dreams when Faith was in a coma. Faith provided the first cryptic reference to Dawn Summers' arrival.
  
  
• Buffy has had many psychic dreams that have almost always come true, unless she has done something to avoid or change it.
  
  

Slayer's Blood:

• The blood of the Slayer could be consumed by vampires to either strengthen themselves or to cure affliction. For instance, the Master used Buffy's blood to break himself free from his mystical prison. Buffy also used her blood to cure Angel from the Killer of the Dead — Slayer's blood being the only cure.
  
  
• Slayer's blood was also considered a powerful aphrodisiac.
  
  

Emotional Empowerment:

• Buffy stated, "My emotions give me power. They're total assets!" when arguing with Kendra.
  
  

Leadership:

• Slayers are natural leaders, even though Slayers were supposed to work alone and never let anyone, in their personal life, know about what/who they were, this all changed when Buffy became the Slayer. She has been known as the Leader of the Slayers.
  
  

Demonic Source:

• In ancient Africa, a group of tribal elders known as the Shadowmen used powerful magic to infuse the essence of an ancient demon into a young captive girl, Sineya. This process granted her and the Slayer line powers. She became the First Slayer, called to fight the vampires, the demons, and other forces of evil that populated Earth and threatened the innocent.
  
  

Damage Boost & Reduction:

• A Slayer has somewhat control over how much strength she uses.
  
  
• There have been times where Buffy has not been as strong, whether it be when was going through a rough time or had gotten sick or something else.
  
  
• Buffy has also admitted to holding back a little bit, after she kicked Riley clear across a room after he asked her not to hold back while they were training.
  
  
• It is unknown how much of boost a Slayer could put behind their damage, but from what we seen they can reduce the damage to a weak humans attack.
  
  

Intellect:

• Although she was sometimes considered a dumb blonde by herself and others, Buffy frequently showed herself to be quite intelligent, possessing strong leadership skills and having a natural flair for tactical planning. Prominent examples of Buffy's intelligence included her near-perfect S.A.T. score (a 1430), her defeat of Zachary Kralik by using his dependency on anti-psychotic medication against him, her quick deduction of the Buffybot's true nature, her rapid deduction of Riley's affiliation to the Initiative based on weeks of evidence, and her immediate realization of Katrina Silber's true murderer upon hearing her name at the police station.
  
  

Mystical Protection:

• After becoming the leader to the activated Slayers, Xander commented that Buffy had some degree of mystical protection over her then, at least while she slept. To that end, her protection meant even daggers split apart so as not to pierce her skin.
  
  

Mystical Link with Willow (Very Low Telepathy):

• After years in their friendship and alliance, Buffy was able to initiate a telepathic conversation with Willow. Their connection was strong to the point that even when unconscious, Willow could channel an amount of her power at will through Buffy, allowing her to conjure up a shield and a fist-enhancing gauntlet made out of green magical energy.
  
  

Fire/Heat Resistance:

• After her resurrection, Buffy was able to Touch fire during the Episode Once More With Feeling and she said it felt cold to her, and that her skin should crack and burn, but it didn't, also during the Dance off, when facing the Sweet, dancing/spinning would cause a normal human to combust instantly. It showed that Buffy could dance much longer than a normal human, it unknown how long she could have gone since Spike stopped her.
