Captain Carter's History

Born in 1918 to George and Amanda Carter, Peggy Carter worked at Bletchley Park during the early years of World War II. Eventually, she would become the recipient of the Super Soldier Serum and lead her own unit, the Carter Commandos, against the Nazis and their splinter organization, HYDRA.

Captain Carter ended up frozen in ice after crashing a plane of Baron Von Strucker's into the Arctic. For this and other heroic acts, she was awarded the Victoria Cross, England's greatest honor, and was the first woman to do so. Despite this, as well as the fact that she had an epitaph added to her family grave, she was never officially deemed deceased, and so she still received her paycheck and pension.

She would later be found still alive by the American, British and Russian governments, all of whom laid claim to her. After finding out she was still a British national, Captain Carter decided to head home to London. Two months later, Carter met with Prime Minister Harry Williams and was informed that she would be working with the newly-formed S.T.R.I.K.E. to tackle super-powered threats alongside her liaison, Lizzie Braddock.

Leaving with Braddock, Carter mourned her family at their graves and took a bus home, where she was ambushed by HYDRA operatives. Said operatives attacked the civilians around Carter, forcing her to publicly expose her identity to protect them. By the next day, the entire world knew she had returned and she was bombarded by the media.
