Carcharoth's power and ferocity were evident when he fought against the valiant hound Huan, who was sent by the Valar to aid the Elves and Men in their struggle against Morgoth, the Dark Lord. Despite being mortally wounded by Carcharoth, Huan managed to defeat the werewolf before succumbing to his own injuries. Silmarils were sacred gems created by the Elf Feanor, containing the light of the Two Trees of Valinor. These gems were incredibly powerful and possessed a kind of divine radiance.
