Gigan (Showa)

Gigan's powers and abilities

Blades: Gigan possesses two large hooked blades on each of his arms, which are sharp and strong enough to cut through the flesh of other kaiju. In addition to these blades, he has a buzz saw-like weapon attached to his abdomen that he can activate and use to slice up his opponents, although this is mostly used while in flight.

Ranged Weaponry: Gigan's visor is capable of firing laser beams and blasts. He is also capable of breathing firing. Neither of these abilities are used on film, but are consistently available to him in his video game and comic appearances.

Flight: Gigan is capable of flying through the use of anti-gravity capabilities. While in atmosphere, he can achieve speeds of mach 3 or higher, while his speed in space is much higher.

Immortality: Gigan is effectively immortal and capable of fully healing himself from any damage as long as at least one of his bladed forearms is undamaged, as seen in Zone Fighter.

Teleportation: In the Atari Pipeworks games, Gigan is capable of very short range teleportation, which he uses to quickly get behind his opponents.

Gigan's weaknesses

Cruel Personality: Gigan, although being a fairly skilled combatant, often gets caught up in torturing weaker opponents when he has the upper hand. This trait often causes him to lose the initiative in the fight and allows opponents to potentially recover while he's distracted.

Damaged Blades: Gigan loses his inexplicable immortality if both of his blades are damaged.
