Gorr The God Butcher's History

Gorr, also known as the God Butcher, was a vengeful galactic killer who sought the extinction of all gods. Once a devout and peaceful man, Gorr lost his faith in the gods after the death of his daughter. Enraged at how the gods had belittled his suffering, Gorr happened upon the powerful weapon All-Black the Necrosword. With his life now entwined with the blade, Gorr embarked on a merciless campaign of slaughter, killing gods one by one, while seeking Eternity in order to grant his wish to bring about their extinction once and for all. Requiring access to the Bifrost Bridge in order to open the Gates of Eternity, Gorr kidnapped the children of New Asgard to lure the god Thor to him, intending to use the latter's weapon, the only power left in the world which could summon the Bifrost, to this end. Confronted in the Shadow Realm, Gorr managed to steal Stormbreaker, proceeding to seek out Eternity, where he was confronted again by Thor and the Mighty Thor, who shattered the Necrosword. Managing to reach Eternity, the dying Gorr was convinced by Thor to choose love over death. Using his wish to bring his daughter back, Gorr entrusted her to Thor, ultimately losing his life as a contented man.
