Joraal's History

Joraal is one of the Darkin, who were once great Ascended warriors until they were corrupted by the Void and Blood Magic.

Joraal was a mighty Ascended tactician known as the Aegis of Eternity, Joraal seemed impervious to attack, even for the immortal god-warriors of Shurima. But the war against the Void raged on, and as resilient as Joraal's body was, it was his mind that broke. Although all of the Darkin had been traumatized, Joraal was among those that suffered the most. Aatrox felt great kinship with Joraal, and attempted to help him while also recruiting him into his war with Xolaani. Before the war could conclude naturally, the Darkin were imprisoned within weapons by the Targonians. Joraal's prison, his own shield, was buried beneath what would eventually become Demacia millennia later. The aegis was then taken into the custody of House Fortis for generations until finally the youngest son of the Lady of the House touched the shield and became Joraal's new host.

Still wracked by his trauma, Joraal nevertheless answered Aatrox's call to war. He would fight valiantly against Xolaani and the Targonians, protecting his fellow Darkin with all of his might, but even this would prove to not be enough and he would fall to the apostate of the Darkin. After Ryze managed to defeat Xolaani, Joraal retreated into isolation, although he would always be ready to answer his brother's call if he was needed.
