Kate BIshop's History
The daughter of Derek and Eleanor Bishop, Kate Bishop grew up during the Avenger's time of operations and dreamt of joining the team from her childhood. After an unspecified violent incident, she decided to make the dreams a reality to cope with the Post-Traumatic Stress and began training in archery, fencing, gymnastics, and martial arts. To perfect her skills, Kate joined her school's archery club, the "Sisters of Artemis", where she quickly developed her skills.
Kate first met Clint Barton / Hawkeye when he served as a judge of her annual competition. Impressing him with her skills, she was taken on as his protégé and possible successor, sharing the Hawkeye identity together. Kate also became associated with the other Avengers, notably Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and, briefly, Captain Marvel. Prior to A-Day, she served several probationary runs on the team and was preparing to join the team officially.
When the Avengers was disbanded due to blame for A-Day, Kate attempted to reach out to the members present during the event. However, many of its members either turned her away or ignored her, hoping to avoid having her brought down with them. With her plans of joining the team in ruins, Kate joined Clint in SHIELD missions, working to investigate AIM and the disappearance of Nick Fury. Together, they adopted a dog called Lucky. When Clint went missing investigating a lead shortly after a birthday, Kate began trying to retrace his steps, leading many to believe she was dead. She also began operating as a Private Investigator during the midst.
During her investigations into AIM's operations, Kate gathered multiple forms of technology, including holograms and quantum devices. Hoping to disassociate herself from Clint and the Hawkeye role, she took to modifying the devices to channel Quantum Energy and allow various abilities, such as teleporting short distances and empowering her attacks. Kate also modified her arsenal to include these technologies, including various modified arrows and hard-light holograms of herself.
Taking AIM
At some point, Kate discovered that Clint had disappeared investigating an AIM project related to Tachyon Rifts, leading her to investigate it. While doing so, she learned that a Quinjet was arriving on the scene and contacted them to warn about airspace violations. After hearing Tony's voice on the channel, Kate quickly realized that it actually belonged to the Avengers. As the team broke into the facility, Kate tried to remind them who she was, though quickly gave up and told them. She helped navigate the facility to her and fought an elite squad with the team. As Stark asked for details behind her activity, Kate declined to answer and teleported away, promising to speak in the future.
Returning to SHIELD Substation Zero, Kate met with Stark under Maria Hill's supervision. Revealing her investigations into Clint and Fury's fates, she gave them details on the Tachyon project, including the link between it and their disappearances. Having finally traced the project to Dr. Lyle Getz, Kate proposed that they captured the scientist and interrogated him on its details. After the meeting, she talked to Tony about their lack of communication and expressed feeling abandoned by the team. When he offered to let her return to the Avengers, Kate pessimistically agreed to it.
Traveling to an AIM facility in the Siberian Tundra, Kate led the Avengers on the mission, helping rescue prisoners and agents captured by the company. During which, she updated them on her new technological abilities. After infiltrating the facility, they fought against Getz, who piloted a Dreadbot in the battle. However, Kate and the Avengers defeated him, bringing him to Substation Zero for interrogation. As they questioned him, Kate learned that Monica had been seeking her and Clint out for an unspecified purpose.
After the interrogation, Kate practiced her archery skills, where she was approached by Captain America. Hoping to make up for the team's lack of communication with her since A-Day, he offered her a place on the Avengers and to name her a member. Kate decided to accept the offer, though seemed unsure whether she'd stay permanently. After tracking down the main facility, she led the Avengers on another mission to investigate it. Whilst doing so, Kate learned that Rappaccini had created the distortions through time travel technology, which had brought her into contact with a future version of herself. To her shock, she also observed that Clint was also cooperating with AIM and went through the gateway into the timeline. Rather than destroy it, Kate ordered a retreat to regain her composure and thoughts.
Visiting the Ant Hill, Kate and the Avengers consulted Pym to discuss the plan on what to do. Planning to continue the rescue, she suggested they created their own time gate, use it to travel into the past, and rescue Barton before he traveled in time. After Pym agreed, Kate and the Avengers attacked the facility where the blueprints were held and successfully retrieved them. After consulting Dum Dum Dugan, she located and opened one of Fury's caches to collect Cavorite. With the device constructed, Kate and several other Avengers traveled to the past to retrieve Clint.
Arriving hours before they were due and with a certain amount of time left, Kate and her teammates attacked the convoy guarding Clint. After freeing him, Kate reunited with her mentor and was shocked to learn that he had agreed to cooperate with Monica. As they fled to the extraction point, Kate learned from Clint that Monica had captured Fury and sent him to the timeline, hoping to prevent an apocalypse. After encountering a warbot sent to recapture him, she reluctantly agreed to return to her timeline and retrieve him through Monica's Time Bridge. Hiding in the facility, Kate and the Avengers returned to their present.
After making their way to the gateway, Kate and the Avengers fought for control of the device against Rappaccini and her forces. Able to take the device away from AIM, they were forced to fight against the Super-Adaptoid, a new Adaptoid the future Monica had leant her past counterpart. After defeating it and reactivating the Time Bridge, Kate prepared to destroy it after Clint had arrived. Seeing him fleeing the future Rappaccini, she, against his orders, helped him escaped by shooting the pursuing AIM robots. After Clint made it through, Kate discovered she had run out of arrows. After watching a robot in the distance, she caught an arrow thrown by Clint and destroyed the Time Bridge. They left shortly afterward.
Returning to the Chimera, Kate and Clint caught up, during which she decided to officially join the Avengers, taking residence in his old quarters. At the team's assembly, she and the team learned what he had been sent to help Fury and the future Rappaccini fend of an invasion by the Kree Empire. When Clint fell comatose during the briefing, Kate was the first to respond and tried to resuscitate him. She later moved him into her room until he awoke.
Future Imperfect
Several weeks after rescuing Clint, Kate and Bruce Banner observed a series of tachyon storms outside The Chimera. She then visited Clint to see whether he'd awakened. During a later visit, Kate discovered he'd awoken from his coma and, angry he'd not done so in her presence, punched him on the shoulder. After venting her frustrations, she agreed to help Clint recover the data he had hidden at his apartment. Arriving on location, Kate and Clint fought off both Watchdogs and AIM forces, who had extracted his stuff and taken hostages. After defusing bombs planted beneath the building, she helped rescue both the capture residents and Lucky. After the mission, Kate reflected on how they'd lost all the data Clint recovered investigating AIM. After learning he'd hidden some on Lucky, she commented how impressed she was with him.
