Lou Palone's History

Lou visits the Buy More's Nerd Herd to get her cell phone fixed. She is panicked at the prospect of a broken phone since she stores her "whole life" in it, but is calmed down by Chuck when he reassures her that this is what he does, and he is good at it, and that her phone will be good as new. He tells her to go to her happy place and she lists "Turkey. Muenster cheese. Egg bread. Grilled," telling Chuck she often thinks about meats and cheeses because of her work.

When she comes back the following day, Chuck has repaired her phone as promised. She flirts with him and hands him the sandwich she thought up, which she has named after him. Things are sidetracked when Sarah appears, introducing herself as Chuck's girlfriend.

Chuck later sees her getting into her car outside the Buy More. Lou admits she likes Chuck, "I like almost everything about you. I think you're cute, you're funny. Our vast height difference intrigues me. Wanna know what I don't like?" Chuck says, "Very, very much." Lou replies, "I think anyone who cheats on his girlfriend is a big, fat, stupid jackass." alluding to the notion that Sarah is his girlfriend. Chuck agrees, "Exactly. I concur." Lou then closes with, "Of course you do, which is why I like you."

General Beckman, express grave concerns over a civilian dating the asset (Chuck), and orders a complete background check be run "before she gets too close." Sarah, however, is clearly, though unwillingly, jealous. She actually pulls Lou aside and tells her "You know, he's a great guy... It's not an opinion, it's a fact." and warns her not to hurt him.

After a later brush with death, Chuck tells Sarah he wants to pretend breakup their fake relationship, so he can have a chance at something real, and then leaves to see Lou. Chuck and Lou hit it off immediately, and date for about two weeks, before she, too, becomes entangled in his spy world, and Chuck breaks up with her, because he can't keep lying to her, though Casey covers some of his actions by saying he works with the FDA.

Lou's past, specifically her ex-boyfriend, and the ensuing problems was just more evidence that show Chuck that he cannot compartmentalize his life as clearly as he had always assumed he could. It is the fear that his spy life might endanger Lou that becomes the driving force behind Chuck's need to put an end to his first real relationship since Jill.

When she asks Chuck if he ever really liked her, he responds, "Lou, you are everything that I'm looking for. I just can't look right now." She tells him she will miss him, "...that was the best kiss I've had in a long time." Lou and Chuck part amicably, but she tells him the next time he gets hungry, he should take it to the Weinerlicious.
