Mechagodzilla's powers and abilities

Cyborg Construction - Kiryu is constructed over the bones of the original Godzilla. Kiryu's systems also use the cellular tissue of the fallen Godzilla as part of its computer system. Protection-wise, Kiryu's armor is composed of a metal alloy capable of withstanding blows from the Millennium Godzilla.

White Heron Support - Akane pilots Kiryu remotely from her White Heron aircraft. She can use microwave recharging systems to give Kiryu a boost as well as firing the Heron's cannons for supporting fire.

Agility - Kiryu is incredibly nimble for a mecha, being able to dodge atomic breathe attacks in a near bullet-time like motion. Kiryu also uses its tail in sweeping motions to keep its opponents off balance.

Godzilla's Soul - The original Godzilla's soul resides within Kiryu and can take control in specific instances. Kiryu's fighting style becomes much more brutal and intense when this happens.

Weapon Systems


• Mouth Mounted Maser Cannons - Kiryu's mouth houses a pair of Type 90 maser cannons (later upgraded to type 99). These cannons lack the firepower to seriously injure Godzilla, but were potent enough to do some damage.
  
  
• Laser Cannons - Kiryu has a pair of laser cannons mounted on each arm that are capable of doing light damage to an opposing Kaiju.
  
  
• Electric Wrist Blade - Added into the mountings for the laser cannons was a large retractable blade that could be charged with electricity. These blades were capable of piercing Godzilla's skin and deep into hhis flesh.
  
  
• Drill Hand - Kiryu's right hand can be converted into a drill-like appendage that was capable of punching through Godzilla's skin.
  
  
• Rocket Pack - Mounted on Kiryu's back is a backpack housing a large number of guided rockets and additional charge for the mecha. When this pack is exhausted, it can be fired from Kiryu's back to ram and disorient an opponent.
  
  
• Absolute Zero Cannon - Mounted inside of Kiryu's chest is perhaps its most daunting weapon: The Absolute Zero Cannon. While this cannon drains Kiryu's charge significantly, one hit from this weapon is capable of instantly flash-freezing the target down to absolute zero (Zero Kelvin) at which point the target shatters.
  
  
• Triple Hyper Maser Cannon - A later replacement for the AZC (which was rendered non-operational due to a lack of appropriately sized diamonds), the Triple Hyper Maser Cannon is capable of seriously injuring Godzilla and driving him backwards.
  
  

Mechagodzilla's weaknesses

Limited Battery Life - Without recharging from a White Heron, Kiryu is only able to operate for about two hours, even less if the Absolute Zero Cannon is used.

Godzilla's Rage - As much of a boon as the soul within can be, when Kiryu is taken over its movements can become erratic and wastefully destructive.
