Nightguard's History
Louise was a vampire hunter trained and raised by a cult of vampire killers called the Nightguard. Her base was the church of Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, in Paris. During the annual gathering of the representative of the Nightguard, their leader betrayed them, having allied himself with the Vampire Nation. In the fight that followed, many of the vampire killers were turned into vampires, including Louise. She tried to fight the vampirism by injecting herself with a mixture of holy water and garlic, managing to slow her transformation but she couldn't stop it.
Louise was patrolling outside of La Oubliette du Roi, a bar frequented by vampires, when she met
Wolverine, who presented himself as
Logan. When he was kidnapped by the vampires inside the building, she freed him and killed the kidnappers with him. When the Vampire Nation was experimenting with
Logan's DNA that they had taken from him when they kidnapped him, in order to create for themselves a cure for their weakness to sunlight,
Wolverine decided to take action against them and asked Louise to help him. She revealed to him that she was a vampire and also wanted revenge on the Vampire Nation for turning her.
Wolverine offered to help her with her condition. He took her to see
Forge on Krakoa and the inventor gifted her with an armor that blocked the sun's rays and slowed her thirst for blood. He also gave her a sword laced with ultraviolet light. Then, along with
Omega Red, Louise and
Logan attacked
Dracula and the Vampire Nation, in the Catacombes de Paris where they were stationed, bringing an end to the
Count's plan for world domination. After the mission,
Logan brought Louise to Sevalith, where she could learn from the indigenous vampires how to control her hunger.
