Spider-Man's History
Ben was the son of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker. During the early years of Ben's life, New York City was ravaged by the villainous Cadaverous and his minions. As Spider-Man, Ben's father, Peter, managed to save the city, but his mother, Mary Jane, died in the process.
Twelve years later, Ben was living with his Grand-Aunt May. Plagued by feelings of inadequacy and guilt, Peter left him under her care while he traveled constantly as a war photographer. At school, Ben was a troubled kid that often confronted bullies. One day, these interventions got him detention after he accidentally thrust a student through a door even though he only meant to push him aside. Since Peter was in town for a layover, he picked up Ben and tried to convince him to stop trying to help others since it could cause trouble, but Ben walked off in anger.
At detention, Ben befriended a girl named Faye Ito. Later that night, Ben had a nightmare in which he saw his mother. Upon waking up, he found himself attached to the ceiling. Having anticipated the awakening of Ben's powers, Aunt May counseled him and instructed him to look through his father's belongings in the attic, where Ben eventually found a Spider-Man suit. Faye then showed up dressed in a costume calling herself "The Marker" and Ben put on the Spider-Man costume. The two then went out around town to "save the world" together. Ben was caught on camera as Spider-Man and the news reports caught the attention of Cadaverous.
When Ben got home, he found his dad, Peter there to talk him out of the dangerous life of Spider-Man but Cadaverous showed up and kidnapped Peter. He knew Peter's blood was "The Key" to experiments he, his mentor Minka Tross, and Peter's parents Richard and Mary Parker had created long ago at Stark Industries that could even raise the dead. He had experimented with many dead test subjects which is how he got his army of minions but needed Richard Parker's blood or a close hereditary match in Peter or Ben's blood to formulate "The Key" to properly resurrect Minka in her normal human form. He used Peter's blood to resurrect his long dead mentor, Minka Tross but got the formulation wrong and she slowly continued to mutate into a giant spider.
Ben was distraught, guilt ridden, and didn't know what to do but Faye showed up to console him and had an idea. She took him to Stark Industries where they were met by Riri Williams. She brought them to a drunken, unhinged, old Tony Stark. When Ben mentioned that Cadaverous called Peter "The Key", Tony immediately sobered up and realized that Cadaverous had to be stopped as those experiments were shut down long ago since the risen test subjects turned violent and killed Minka. They were all on their way to rescue Peter and stop Cadaverous when they were met by long dead cybernetic zombie Avengers, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and Black Widow who went after Tony. Riri suited up and Ben put on his mask and Ironheart and Spider-Man fought to save Tony. When the dead Avengers were defeated, Tony noticed they had been resurrected by Cadaverous and implanted with old Stark tech neuro chips to control them. Then they all suited up and Iron Man, Ironheart, Spider-Man, and The Marker and went to take the fight to Cadaverous.
In the battle with Cadaverous' army of resurrected, mind-controlled minions, Ben was captured and taken by Cadaverous to be used to cure Minka and return her to her normal human form. However, one of his army hoard soldiers snapped out of his mind control, attacked him, and saved Ben. They took "The Key" in the syringe the Cadaverous had extracted and formulated and escaped with it. Ben planned to use it to save his dying father, Peter, instead of Minka. As they were pursued and the battle continued, Ben dropped the syringe. Giant Spider-Minka picked up Ben and asked for The Key. Ben having dropped it didn't know where it was. Cadaverous' soldier that had helped him found it, picked it up and was about to inject Peter with it to save him when he asked the soldier why it was helping them. She called him "Tiger" and Peter immediately realized that it was MJ. She was alive and had been under Cadaverous' mind control these last 12 years. Peter took the syringe and instead injected MJ with it curing her and completely returning her to her fully normal, resurrected human form. As Peter was dying, he made his peace with Ben and MJ and shoved them off the bridge just before an explosion appeared to have killed him, Cadaverous, and Minka while The Marker, Iron Man, and Ironheart defeated the army hoard.
After Peter's funeral, Tony Stark left a Stark Industries briefcase at the Parker household. May brought it in and gave it to MJ and Ben. They opened it up to find new high-tech Spider-Man costumes.
