Spinstress's History
Petra is a Princess and daughter of
Queen Mysteria. One day, she sneaked out of the palace in disguise and went to the city market with her pet spider,
Webster, to explore. While there, she ended up meeting the bard
Merry James Watson. Before the two could get better acquainted, however, she had to fight off the vile
Bishop Octopus, who was searching for the Crystal Orb. When he discovered that Petra was the Princess, he left the market and kept searching for the Orb.
As a battle tattered and filthy Princess Petra was sneaking back into her room in the palace, she found her mother there waiting for her.
Queen Mysteria scolded her and forbade her from going to the ball that evening. Hearing Petra's hopeless lament after her mother left, her
Fairy Gob-Mother, Norma, appeared and transformed her into Spinstress with the powers of a Spider-Totem who could now communicate with and understand
Webster. However, this magical transformation came with a choice she had to make by the time the clock struck midnight. She had to decide whether to keep her powers and give up the possibility of loving someone for her entire life or choose to love someone but give up her new powers.
Spinstress went to the ball. There, she saw
Merry James Watson and started a conversation with him. Her mother, who had the Crystal Orb, placed it over her head, and magically became the
Mysterious Empress. With the help of
Bishop Octopus by her side, the
Mysterious Empress then began attacking the guests
Emma Frost,
Clea, and
Steven Strange, believing these royals from surrounding kingdoms to be assassins who had killed her husband and Petra's father, the king. Spinstress managed to defeat both
Bishop Octopus and
Mysterious Empress with the help of
Webster and
Merry James Watson. However, during the fight, the clock began to strike midnight and Petra reluctantly decided to keep her powers to finish the fight and protect the guests. After the fight, a portal opened up and
Madame Web (Julia Carpenter),
Araña, and
Spider-UK (Zarina Zahari) walked through to request Spinstress' help to prevent the end of the Spider-Verse.
