What is The Blackblade?
History of The Blackblade
The Blackblade (or Black Blade) was a mystical soul-drinking weapon created by the blacksmith Dakkon after the planeswalker Geyadrone Dihada promised him the power of a god. It was also known as the Soul-Drinker. The Blackblade possessed the power to absorb the essence of any being it came in contact with from great Elder Dragons to literal Gods and then enhance the user with that power. It was wielded for the final time by Gideon Jura in the War of the Spark. Gideon attempted to use it to kill Nicol Bolas, but Bolas had tampered with the blade in the past to ensure it couldn't harm him. Upon contact with the great dragon, Blackblade shattered, ending its reign of terror for all times.
