X.R's History

X.R.(short for eXperimental Ranger) was an attempt by the Little Green Men to create a robotic Space Ranger. After tricking Commander Nebula (who disapproved of the concept) into signing the work-form, the LGM's began construction. X.R. was designed to be easily reassembled if destroyed by Zurg or any other adversary. He was temporarily assigned as Buzz Lightyear's new partner, but displayed no outward personality beyond copying Buzz's words and actions to "learn" how to be the best Ranger possible.

When Agent Z and Zurg's forces invaded �?zạ£�?��??βGæ! (the LGM Homeworld) in order to steal the Uni-Mind, the duo went to stop them. During the skirmish, X.R. was destroyed by Agent Z, who managed to steal the Uni-Mind. Disorganized and adrift without their mindlink, the LGM's repair of X.R. resulted in faulty programming, giving the robot a personality more sarcastic and selfish personality than he originally possessed. As a result, he was reassigned to serve Booster Munchapper on Star Command's custodial staff. In order to get out of work, X.R. exploited Booster's fascination with Buzz Lightyear to give him a "tour" of Lightyear's ship. The two were aboard when Buzz took the craft to apprehend the rogue Ranger Mira Nova, and were eventually discovered. Fortunately, all 4 were off-station when Zurg blasted Star Command with a beam from the corrupted Uni-Mind, which gave him total control over the individuals aboard. After enslaving nearly all free planets, Buzz, Booster, Mira and X.R. mounted a covert sneak-attack on Zurg's base of planet Z. In the conflict, X.R. along with Booster, managed to defeat and capture Agent Z a.k.a. Warp Darkmatter, formerly Buzz's partner and Zurg's top enforcer. After the Uni-Mind was un-corrupted and the Universe freed, X.R. was awarded for his bravery in the crisis. He joined the newly-formed "Team Lightyear" along with Buzz, Booster, and Mira.

During his adventures as a Space Ranger, X.R. played a central role in a number of Team Lightyear's adventures. He was one of the first victims of the robotic energy Vampire NOS-4-A2, but later helped to defeat the creature. His villainous "brother" X.L. (the first attempt by the LGM's at a robotic Ranger) also made numerous attempts to destroy X.R./Star Command before eventually reforming. X.R. considered Commander Nebula to be his father (despite the latter's protests) and even formed a relationship with the AI of Team Lightyear's ship 42.
